"The tutors were absolutely brilliant! They went above and beyond and made sure we got through the course in the best possible shape."
Paolo completed the Blackburn University Centre Sports Coaching Foundation Degree FdSc before moving on to study the University Centre’s Sports Coaching BSc (Hons) (Top Up) course; graduating with a 2:1.
Since graduation, he has studied a Secondary School PGCE and has recently secured full-time work as a teacher at St Aidan’s High School in Poulton-le-Fylde.
Talking about his time at Blackburn University Centre, Paolo said: “The tutors were absolutely brilliant! They went above and beyond and made sure we got through the course in the best possible shape.
“Blackburn University Centre’s small class sizes are really beneficial, as they helped increase one-to-ones with tutors making them easily reachable; whether that’s face-to-face, through a message on Moodle or via email.
“The tutors would always read your work and provide constructive feedback. Their effort and care for our progression is what encouraged me to not only complete my Degree, but to also do the Top Up.”
He added: “As for the course as a whole, I really enjoyed it. I wanted to become a PE teacher and the topics within the Degree covered a wide range of things, especially what I needed to know like nutrition and psychology. There was plenty of time and support to finish work and the library resources were very helpful.
“I also benefitted from the funded Coaching Badge offer from Blackburn University Centre, which definitely strengthened my applications for both my PGCE course and my teaching role.”
