“I was inspired to return to education when my wife completed a degree at the University Centre at Blackburn College. Choosing the BA (Hons) Photography Degree was an obvious choice for me due to my lifelong passion for photography.

As a younger man I often accompanied the acclaimed Lancashire photographer, Wally Talbot on photo shoots and this experience has come to form part of my current work in curating the Talbot Archive which consist of digitising over 5,000 lost images of Wally Talbot’s work.

I am inspired by contemporary studio practice and for my Final Major Project I explored customs and rituals from around the world including Indonesia, China and Germany.  The challenge I set myself was using only natural light and virtually no editing.

I have now been accepted to continue my studies and complete my Masters in Photography at Lancaster University.”

In the long term, my goal is to play a part in preserving the heritage of Blackburn and create the Blackburn Heritage Centre.”
