Guest Tickets

All guests admitted to the graduation ceremony must be in possession of a ticket or you will not be permitted to enter. Each student attending their graduation ceremony is entitled to TWO guest tickets free of charge (graduating students will receive their own separate graduand ticket).

Ceremonies are not suitable for young children due to the length and formality of graduation. Please be prepared to leave the hall if they become restless. We recommend families with young children attend the live screening venue which is more informal. Children over 2 must have their own guest ticket and be accompanied by an adult guest (not a graduand). Children under 2 do not need a ticket and can sit on a guest’s knee. If you wish them to have their own seat then they must have a ticket.  Under no circumstances are children allowed to sit with graduands. Please note there are no childcare facilities at King George’s Hall and prams and buggies are not permitted in the Hall and there is no storage.

Extra Guest Tickets

Graduands can purchase up to FOUR additional guest tickets for the ceremony. Each additional guest ticket will cost £5.00. Once student registration has closed, additional guest tickets will go on General sale on Wednesday 2nd October at 8.00am for 5 days and will close on Sunday 6th October at midnight. Please note that tickets might sell out before the closing date.  Tickets can be bought through the same website where students register and order gowns and photography Students will need to log back in and add the tickets to their order. Guests cannot book their own tickets. All tickets are sold on a first come first served basis and are non-refundable. No tickets are posted. All tickets will be available on the day at the Ticket Collection Desk in the Beacon Centre [See map]

All additional guest tickets are available through the website only. There is no option to purchase tickets on campus, over the phone or on the day. All queries can be sent to

All students must ensure they have registered by the Monday 30th September in order to qualify for extra guest tickets.

Please note that on the day latecomers to the ceremony, including guests, will not be permitted entry under any circumstances as this will disrupt the formality of the proceedings.

Live Screening for Guests

If you have more guests than tickets, or young children for whom the ceremony is not suitable, they are welcome to attend the live screening in the University Centre Lecture Theatre. This is not ticketed but seats are limited. The live screening is more informal so it is more suited to young children.

If you have family or friends who are unable to attend on the day then they will be able to stream the ceremony from the website.

Please note that due to the technology involved the quality of the live stream can vary and there may be unforeseen technical issues.
