Collecting Tickets

Guest tickets will be given to graduands on the day at the Beacon Centre on campus. Please ensure you get your guest tickets from the graduand before they go to the lining up venue. It would also be helpful if you make sure the person graduating has their graduand ticket.

Seating is limited so without a ticket you will not be allowed entrance to King George’s Hall.

Gowning and Photography of graduands

You are welcome to accompany your graduand to their gowning and photography but after that please make your way to King George’s Hall to take your seats. Graduates will be going to a different location to take part in the graduate procession.

Taking your seats

You will need to be in your seats 30 minutes before the ceremony start time otherwise you will not be admitted. Guests who arrive late will not be permitted entry as this could disrupt the ceremony and cause delays therefore guests are advised to allow plenty of time. Please note that guest seating is not allocated (unless guests have special access requirements) so please ensure to arrive early to have a greater choice of seating

The ceremony

Guests are advised that each ceremony will last no more than 90 minutes. During this time guests should only leave their seats in case of an emergency. Unfortunately, any guests who choose to leave during the ceremony will not be permitted to re-enter the hall. This is to keep disruptions to the ceremony to a minimum.

Guests are welcome to take photographs throughout the ceremony but must remain seated whilst doing so.

Given the length and formal nature of the graduation ceremony, it is not suitable for young children as they may become restless and bored. Please bear this in mind if you plan to attend with young children. Should any children cause continual disruption to the ceremony, guests may be asked to leave. Guests with young children may prefer to attend the live screening as this has a more informal atmosphere and is therefore more suitable for younger guests.

Celebration Event

After the ceremony you are invited to attend the celebration event taking place at the University Centre (see map) which is a short walk from King George’s Hall. Complimentary refreshments and entertainment will be available for all Guests and Graduates.
