All our courses are validated by well-respected institutions such as Lancaster University, University of Central Lancashire (UCLan), the University of South Wales and University of Cumbria.
Blackburn College is an Associate College of Lancaster University. 85% of higher education provision offered at the College is validated by Lancaster. The growing reputation of Lancaster was reflected by The Times and Sunday Times award for University of the Year 2018. High rankings year-on-year in each of the UK's major university league tables - The Times/Sunday Times (6th), the Complete University Guide (8th), and the Guardian (9th). Lancaster is ranked 131st in the QS World University Rankings 2018, and 146th in THE World University Rankings 2019.
University Centre at Blackburn College is a collaborative partner of the University of South Wales. Our Law and two of our Sports courses are validated by the University and we have an extremely mature relationship. Staff from the different departments at the University of South Wales work closely with colleagues from University Centre at Blackburn College. You’ll find that staff from the University of South Wales contribute to programmes and may conduct some lectures/classes with you. You may also travel to the University of South Wales in your induction.
Some of our courses are approved by the University of Central Lancashire. These include our Teacher Training courses. There are numerous opportunities for students on these courses as you’ll be able to enjoy many of the facilities that students studying on the main UCLan campus are entitled to. You’ll be able to join welcome events and get involved with the University of Central Lancashire’s Students’ Union.
As one of the UK’s newest universities the University of Cumbria also has a long and prestigious history of delivering first-class higher education in and around Cumbria. Formed in 2007, the University of Cumbria was created from three institutions with histories going back to the 19th Century and has recently risen 60 places in the WhatUni Student Choice Awards 2018 and is now ranked 35 out of 126 HEIs . We work with the University of Cumbria to validate a number of foundation and top up degrees. The University of Cumbria’s experience in producing professional graduates, in-demand from employers means that they are the perfect university for students who wish to study vocationally-orientated awards up to Honours level.
