Giving back

There is no doubt in our minds that you will someday be in a position to give back to Blackburn University Centre. If you are already in this position, you can do this in a number of ways, including:

Becoming a mentor

Mentoring allows you to be matched up with a student at Blackburn University Centre to help them develop the skills and experience employers are looking for.

For the student it is an opportunity to network and expand their career opportunities. It will also help them to plan their own business if you are self-employed – while giving them an insight into an organisation.

Providing a work placement

As you will know from your time with us as a student, we work closely with businesses, public and voluntary sector organisations to ensure our courses meet the needs of employers in all sectors.

If you are now in position to take on a work placement, this could benefit both yourself and the student, as:

  • Work placements provide both inspiration and aspiration to learners
  • They reduce the cost of recruitment by using placements as an access point to the future graduate market
  • They bring new ideas and skills in to the business, future proofing the organisation
  • They provide the opportunity for continuous professional development for existing employees by supporting and mentoring a learner
